Following a rejection of Psystar's appeal to that decision in September, the company's lawyers vowed to take it up to the Supreme Court. "This is far from over," K.A.D. Camara of Houston law firm Camara & Sibley LLP told Computerworld in an interview. The company kept to its word, and filed for a review from the Supreme Court on December 27, 2011.

"We are sad," Camara told Designer iPhone 4 Cases by e-mail this evening. "I'm sure that the Supreme Court will take a case on this important issue eventually."

For the past several years, in order to keep iPhone 4S Cases sales from falling off a cliff in the months shortly before Apple and partners are poised to roll out new Best iPhone 4 Cases models running a new version of Windows, Microsoft has offered an upgrade program. Here are some of the particulars of the coming Windows 8 program, according to my contacts. (The upgrade offer image above is from materials Microsoft is said to be providing to some of its OEM and retail partners about the coming program, according to my sources.)
Microsoft will make the so-called "Windows 8 Offer" available to consumers buying a Windows 7 PC running Home Basic or higher, allowing them to obtain Windows 8 Pro once Windows 8 is available. The Windows 8 Pro SKU is for tech enthusiasts and business/technical professionals, and includes encryption, virtualization, PC management and domain connectivity, as well as support for a separately priced Media Pack for Windows Media Center.

Seemingly because the offer is for the more feature-rich Pro SKU, rather than the entry-level Windows 8 (consumer) one, the offer won't be "free." There will be some fee attached to the coupon, but there's no word on what that's going to be (so far). The upgrade offer will start on or around June 2, 2012 -- right around the time Microsoft delivers the Release Preview (Release Candidate) of Windows 8 -- and last through January, 2013. By kicking off the upgrade program in early summer, Appke is hoping to capitalize on the Designer iPhone 4 Case market, even though Windows 8 may not actually be available (and isn't expected by most Microsoft watchers to be) by the time students start school.

But Android is now facing a renewed challenge from its archrival. Android badly needs a new advantage against the iPhone in the next stage of the mobile platform fight. It may get it from Canonical's Ubuntu for Android.
The Ubuntu factor

Ubuntu is a friendly version of Linux aimed at the masses. Unfortunately, the masses have never embraced it on a large scale, but it has proven to be usable enough that even your technophobic uncle can easily use Ubuntu to do things like surf the Web, check e-mail, and download photos from a digital camera.

While the Best iPhone 4 Case is winning on simplicity, Android is winning on expanded features (and it's still expected to have a 50 percent market share this year). One of those expanded features that the iPhone doesn't have is the ability to dock and act like a computer. Last week we looked at how Motorola Webtop pioneered this concept. However, Ubuntu has an alternative vision for smartphone/PC convergence and it's teaming with Android hardware makers on devices that will hit the market later in 2012.

Canonical, the company behind Ubuntu, has slowly and quietly evolved the Linux desktop into a legitimate low-cost alternative to Windows and Mac. Ubuntu's focus on usability with its Unity Desktop and Heads-Up Display (which is like a Google search for all of the menus on your computer) has given Ubuntu the simplicity it needs to compete in an era that's about to be dominated by touchscreens and cloud computing.

That's why when Canonical announced and demonstrated Ubuntu for Android at Mobile World Congress in February, it generated a lot of interest across the iPhone 4S Cases industry. Users liked the idea of a more full-featured desktop than Motorola's Webtop. Android phone makers liked the idea of using the software to build high-powered multi-purpose devices and make more money off smartphones accessories like desktop docks. And, wireless carriers loved the idea of powerful smartphones running desktop-level applications that will demand more data than ever.
"The feedback has been great," Canonical CEO Mark Shuttleworth said. "People that really got their hands on it have raved about it."

After the announcement, the Canonical booth at MWC 2012 was flooded with interest from corporate tech managers, consumers, and representatives from telcos and handset makers. All of them wanted to see what Ubuntu for Android could do. Everyone has seen the capabilities of Motorola Webtop -- as we talked about last week -- but it's limited to mostly desktop Web browsing and it's only available on Motorola phones. Ubuntu takes the concept a step further by opening it up to more apps and to all Android phone makers.

Shuttleworth said, "Webtop reminds [me] of ChromeOS. It's a browser story. We've pulled off a very different feeling... The full range of desktop apps are there."

When Ubuntu is loaded on an Android phone, the two platforms share the same iphone 4 covers , so it's not like running two operating systems. The two pieces act like complementary partners. The Android phone functions normally when used as a smartphone or when making calls, but when it docks then the Ubuntu desktop pops up and acts like a standard computer. You can open a desktop Web browser, but you can also install and run standard Ubuntu desktop software for photo editing, word processing, etc.

Because Ubuntu is so lean, the entire Ubuntu software stack only takes up about 2GB, and that includes apps for e-mail, Web browsing, photo editing, music, and other basic stuff. If you install more applications from the large Ubuntu repository of open source apps then that will obviously take up more space, but there's still plenty of storage on most modern smartphones to handle it. While Ubuntu takes up more storage than Webtop, it's also giving you a lot more capabilities.

"The Ubuntu solution is providing a complete PC operating system," said Richard Collins, the Product Manager for Ubuntu for Android. "Canonical has always seen the opportunity for Ubuntu for Android. It's something that's always been discussed, but once the hardware was ready then we realized the timing was good for this. [The software] is mature enough for us to engage with an OEM today."

Before joining Canonical in December 2011, Collins previously worked on smartphones for Designer iPhone 4S Case -- the operating system that used to power Nokia smartphones before CEO Stephen Elop dumped it for Windows Phone 7 last year.

The Korean mobile phone maker wants to exclude "Apple-related blogs and articles by non-expert newspaper reporters, regarding any assessment of Apple and Samsung and/or their products."

It also wants to eliminate any testimony from Henry Urbach, "Apple's expert on the alleged cultural significance of iphone 4 covers ." Samsung believes Urbach's own opinions about Apple products are subjective and therefore "not helpful to the jury."

Finally, Samsung also wants to keep out the opinions of Sanjay Sood, "Apple's expert on consumer decision making," who it considers an unobjective and unhelpful source about Apple's Designer iPhone 4 Cases design prowess.

At this stage, these are all just motions the companies plan to file. It will be up to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to decide which ones have merit and which ones should be dismissed.

I think Windows 8 is doomed to failed on the desktop. But, much as I dislike Windows 8 and its Metro interface, I thought it had a chance on the business Best iPhone 4 Cases . Oh, forget about Intel and Microsoft's dream that the first wave of Windows 8 tablets will push the iPad's global market share to below 50 percent by mid-2013. That's not happening. But, Metro's designed for tablet-sized displays and, I presumed, IT would be able to deploy and manage them with their existing Active Directory (AD) tools. Guess what? Microsoft won't be supporting AD on Windows 8 on ARM (WOA).

When I first heard that Microsoft wasn't enabling AD on Windows RT-the ARM-specific version of Windows 8-I thought there must be some kind of Best iPhone 4 Case . AD isn't just a directory service, it's the heart of business Windows authentication, authorization, security, and management. Every Windows system administrator, since Windows NT's domain system was put out to pasture, knows AD. It's what they use, just for starters, for:

Adding new users to Active Directory
Changing passwords

Allowing remote access to the network
Setting login and logout scripts
Controlling when users can use the network
Creating security groups - with either static or dynamic membership

First, it's not a mis-spelling of Apple's iphone 4 covers . Intune is a cloud-based Windows security and management service. Eric Main, director of product marketing for Windows Intune, says the the next version of Intune, which will be Windows 8 compatible, will "cost $11 U.S. per PC, per month," with an additional "four mobile devices per seat."

So, let's put this all together. You can't use the same AD tools you've used for over a decade to run Windows on Windows 8 tablets. Instead, you'll need to learn, pay, and use an additional Designer iPhone 4s Case . Oh, and by the way, this is a Microsoft cloud-based service so I hope you're comfortable with managing part of your infrastructure on the cloud, because that's the only way you can do it.

My writer colleague Gregg Keizer asked some experts what they made of Microsoft's new management tools for Windows RT and they were unimpressed. Michael Cherry, an analyst with Directions on Microsoft, said, "Unless someone has an absolute need to run Office locally [on a tablet], there's no more value to Windows RT than there is to an iPad, which at least is a known quantity." The more we learn about RT, said Michael Silver, a Gartner Microsoft analyst, the "fewer and fewer organizations will be looking at WOA." I can well believe that.

I really don't get it. I don't think Windows RT tablets have any chance of winning consumers with fat wallets away from the iPad. I also don't think Microsoft tablets have much of a shot against the Android tablets at the lower price points.

What I did think, though, was that Microsoft would have a decent chance at getting IT departments into buying them for their users to avoid the "bring your own device (BYOD)" management headaches that comes with users bringing in their own tablets. I may not like what I've seen on Windows 8, but I could see Windows RT tablets with AD integration making good solid business sense for companies that were deeply invested in Windows.

Ivy Bridge will highlight Intel's emphasis on power-efficiency and graphics performance, but one key ingredient will be missing -- Best iPhone 4 Cases .
Intel's Ivy Bridge chip is expected to be announced Monday, opening the floodgates for new Best iPhone 4 Case and laptops built around the chipmaker's first 22-nanometer processor. Generally, the smaller the chip geometries, the faster and/or more power efficient the silicon is. Intel's current Sandy Bridge processors use "fatter" 32-nanometer technology.

Intel claims tri-gate tech allows an "unprecedented" combination of power savings and performance gains that will allow the perpetuation of Moore's law for "years to come," according to a statement by the company.
Ivy Bridge will also be the biggest statement by Intel to date on the importance of graphics. "Graphics are the part where you're going to see the most sizable gains [and] on the CPU [central processing unit] you're going to see iPhone 4S Cases ," an industry source familiar with Ivy Bridge's performance, told CNET earlier in the month. And this has been confirmed by early Ivy Bridge benchmarks.
"Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome. They've all been in a performance war. And one of the things that they use to improve performance is the graphics elements of HTML," said Nathan Brookwood, principal analyst at Insight64, referring to Ivy Bridge's graphics silicon support for OpenCL 1.1 -- an Intel first. "So, if you look at IE9 versus IE8, one of the big improvements there was being able to use the GPU accelerate a lot of that kind of work."
All of this is good news for consumers looking to update an iphone 4 covers

. But Intel has made it abundantly clear that Windows 8 is the real target market. That's when we can expect a new kind of ultrabook that spans the tablet and laptop categories.
"Starting with Windows 8, you have a mainstream operating system incorporating touch. Our view is that in the ultrabook lines, touch is a pretty critical enabler. When users see that new Windows interface, they're going to want to touch it. If the screen does nothing, you have disappointed [the] consumer," Intel CEO Paul Otellini said last fall at an Intel conference.
And that's when we'll likely see Ivy Bridge updates to existing popular ultrabooks like the HP Folio 13 and Dell XPS 13 ultrabook, too.
But until Windows 8 arrives, consumers will have to make do Designer iPhone 4s Case . (That said, who knows, it may turn out that the more traditional Windows 7 may be preferable to Windows 8, at least for some.)

Using the sharp edges of its current design language, the Urus concept presents a very unique look for a vehicle designed to drive offroad. Although about 16 feet in length, similar to the Best iPhone 4 Cases , the Urus concept is only about 5 and a half feet high, making it more like a raised sedan.

A two car model line-up consisting of exotic sport cars leads to very shaky revenue. An SUV, which Lamborghini says would be a car "for everyday use, for the family, for leisure pursuits with friends," gives customers of the brand, who probably already own an SUV from another brand, a new option.

The new iPad improves dramatically on its predecessor on two counts: it now features the Retina display; and comes ready to connect with high-speed 4G networks.

The Retina Display improvement has been by far the most dramatic improvement. The 9.7 inch tablet now packs more pixels on it than a standard HD television set. It has a screen resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels whereas HD TV has a screen resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. So the 9.7-inch iPad will display roughly a million pixels more than what a 32-inch HD TV would. Held at a standard distance, the human retina would not be able to distinguish the pixels, apart from presenting what Apple calls the sharpest display ever on a mobile device.

No amount of explaining would do that spec justice. The best way to understand it would be to experience it first-hand. Even the videos on YouTube are going to have to be scaled down.

The launch in the U.S. and key European markets is slated for March 16. An extended rollout is expected by month-end. No date has been mentioned for India yet. The iPad2 reached Indian retail stores six weeks within its international launch. So a similar timing is possible. But, as with all things Apple, nothing concrete emerges anywhere within the reach of the Press directly.
To achieve the near-impossible with its display, Apple has also had to re-jig its custom-designed processor. The new A5X still a dual-core chip but is said to have a quad-core graphics engine. Asus and other competitors from the Android universe have already announced quad-core processor tablets in recent months but Apple claims the graphics performance on the new iPad outshines not just other tablets in the market but also some hand-held gaming consoles. Given the pattern of Apple's iPhone launches, we're expecting the next-gen iPhone 5 to debut in mid to late 2012. We reckon it's most likely to be shown off at Apple's Worldwide Developer Event (WWDC), which usually takes place in early June.

Rumours that we reported on 18 October claim an iPhone 5 release date of Summer 2012. Analyst Ashok Kumar claimed that the absent iPhone 5 was meant to be the big announcement at the recent event where the iPhone 4S was launched.

iPhone 5 form factor
Unlike the iPhone 4S, it'll be a completely new design from what has gone before, so that means an entirely new casing as we saw with the iPhone 3G and, later, the iPhone 4.

Interestingly, someone who claimed to have seen a larger-screened iPhone 5 prototype said in November 2011 that Steve Jobs canned the new handset and opted for the iPhone 4S because of the larger screen size of the new device. According to Business Insider, it was feared that a new size would create a two-tier iPhone ecosystem.
