Apple doesn't want jurors to see Designer iPhone 4S Case logo on court video equipment, which is just one of many courtroom requests the two companies have made as they prepare to take their patent issues to trial.

The company's last refresh to its MacBook Pro was in October, with a speedier processor, more storage, and upgraded graphics capabilities. It's been a bit longer for the MacBook Airs, which were refreshed in late July to coincide with the release of Apple's Lion OS X software update.
Not to be left out is the iMac, Apple's all-in-one desktop machine, which is due for some sprucing up. Dealnews says buyers saved $94 on the 21.5-inch iMac by waiting a week after it came out, with buyers saving $144 by waiting seven months.

Windows 8 tablets: Not open for business

I think Windows 8 is doomed to failed on the desktop. But, much as I dislike Windows 8 and its Metro interface, I thought it had a chance on the business Best iPhone 4 Cases . Oh, forget about Intel and Microsoft's dream that the first wave of Windows 8 tablets will push the iPad's global market share to below 50 percent by mid-2013. That's not happening. But, Metro's designed for tablet-sized displays and, I presumed, IT would be able to deploy and manage them with their existing Active Directory (AD) tools. Guess what? Microsoft won't be supporting AD on Windows 8 on ARM (WOA).

When I first heard that Microsoft wasn't enabling AD on Windows RT-the ARM-specific version of Windows 8-I thought there must be some kind of Best iPhone 4 Case . AD isn't just a directory service, it's the heart of business Windows authentication, authorization, security, and management. Every Windows system administrator, since Windows NT's domain system was put out to pasture, knows AD. It's what they use, just for starters, for:

Intel's Ivy Bridge waits on Windows 8

Ivy Bridge will highlight Intel's emphasis on power-efficiency and graphics performance, but one key ingredient will be missing -- Best iPhone 4 Cases .
Intel's Ivy Bridge chip is expected to be announced Monday, opening the floodgates for new Best iPhone 4 Case and laptops built around the chipmaker's first 22-nanometer processor. And this has been confirmed by early Ivy Bridge benchmarks.

Best iPad 3 case Across the tech world, the immediate reaction to Yahoo suing Facebook for patent infringement was one of outrage and utter contempt--a clear example of a broken patent system and a low-blow attempt from a desperate Yahoo to squeeze a ton of cash out of the company it once tried to buy.

Paul Graham, the Y Combinator co-founder who sold his company, Viaweb, to Yahoo in 1998 for about $49 million, was blunt in his e-mail. "This was a clumsy move that will blow up in Yahoo's face," he said. "The biggest priorities for any tech company right now is hiring, and this is going to make it impossible for them to hire good people."

From Fred Wilson, the VC/blogger who's a principal of Union Square Ventures: "Yahoo! has broken ranks and crossed the unspoken line which is that companies don't sue each other over their bogus patent portfolios," he wrote on his blog. "I used to care about that company for some reason. No more. They are dead to me. Dead and gone. I hate them now."

And then came Marc Cuban, who of course made his gajillions by selling Broadcast.com to Yahoo for more than $5 billion in Yahoo stock in 1999. He took to his blog and, in a fiercely sarcastic post called "I Hope Yahoo Crushes Facebook in its Patent Suit," concluded this way: "I hope Yahoo is awarded 50 billion dollars. It's the only way that consumers will realize what is at stake with patent law as is."

An alternate scenario

But here's another view of how this nasty Silicon Valley fight might play out: a team of lawyers and dealmakers from Facebook and Yahoo hole up for days on end and hammer out a deal in which Faceook does more than license some of the patents from Yahoo. Instead, it buys them outright for billions--an outcome that could ultimately help both companies.

This scenario was put forth to me by Erin-Michael Gill, the chief intellectual property officer for MDB Capital, an investment bank that specializes in analyzing and valuing the IP of both public and private companies.

Gill, in fact, has been a step ahead of this whole drama. He became deeply familiar with Yahoo's patent portfolio after assessing it for hedge fund manager Daniel Loeb, who was building a stake in Yahoo, and last November predicted that Yahoo would end up suing Facebook over patent infringement.

Now, Yahoo is essentially arguing that Facebook misappropriated most of the technologies that helped Facebook become what it is, as my colleague Charlie Cooper spells out in this story.

The new iPad improves dramatically on its predecessor on two counts: it now features the Retina display; and comes ready to connect with high-speed 4G networks.

The Retina Display improvement has been by far the most dramatic improvement. The 9.7 inch tablet now packs more pixels on it than a standard HD television set. It has a screen resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels whereas HD TV has a screen resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. So the 9.7-inch iPad will display roughly a million pixels more than what a 32-inch HD TV would. Held at a standard distance, the human retina would not be able to distinguish the pixels, apart from presenting what Apple calls the sharpest display ever on a mobile device.

No amount of explaining would do that spec justice. The best way to understand it would be to experience it first-hand. Even the videos on YouTube are going to have to be scaled down.

The launch in the U.S. and key European markets is slated for March 16. An extended rollout is expected by month-end. No date has been mentioned for India yet. The iPad2 reached Indian retail stores six weeks within its international launch. So a similar timing is possible. But, as with all things Apple, nothing concrete emerges anywhere within the reach of the Press directly.
To achieve the near-impossible with its display, Apple has also had to re-jig its custom-designed processor. The new A5X still a dual-core chip but is said to have a quad-core graphics engine. Asus and other competitors from the Android universe have already announced quad-core processor tablets in recent months but Apple claims the graphics performance on the new iPad outshines not just other tablets in the market but also some hand-held gaming consoles. The story as posted in Digitimes said "The planned launch of the 7.85-inch iPad is apparently to take on Amazon's US$199 7-inch Kindle Fire as well as a comparable model from Barnes & Noble, although Apple already took up nearly a 60% share of the tablet PC market in 2011, indicated the sources." Both 9to5Mac and the Wall Street Journal have mentioned this in the past, and MacRumors has too, and it has been on Spacelab as the iPad Mini. The iPad Mini could go for a price around $249 - $299 as rumored by various online news reports, and an iPad Mini release date is rumored for the fourth quarter of 2012.

The Japanese blog Macotakara.jp reported on Monday of this week that the iPhone 5 would be coming out in September or October 2012. According to Macotakara, they were given this information from a "very reliable source in Asia." The source told Macotakara that the iPhone 5 would likely come out in one of these two months and that-perhaps even more importantly-this cycle would continue for future iPhone releases.
In other words, according to the source, Apple is completely abandoning their previous new iPhone summer release schedule in favor of a new iPhone every fall schedule. That, of course, contradicts what many other sources have been reporting-that the iPhone 5 would mark the return of the new iPhone every June schedule Apple previously had.
Why a Fall Debut Makes Sense
The idea of releasing the iPhone 5 (as well as future iPhones) in the fall actually isn't that crazy. In fact, it might just be a great idea-from a business standpoint-for Apple. That's because the iPhone 4S was extremely successful in terms of sales, even moreso than the other iPhones. The iPhone 4S sold more units in the first 24 hours that it was on sale than any other Apple product. Over four million iPhone 4S units were sold during the first weekend.
Not only that, but sales of the iPhone 4S continued well into the holiday season of 2011. If the iPhone 5 were released in October 2012, it is very likely that the sales of the iPhone 5 would also continue well into the holiday season. This would mean big profits for Apple.

One other reason why a fall iPhone 5 debut makes sense is that it would be roughly a year after the release of the 4S. Many feel that releasing the iPhone 5 less than a year after the 4S-as would happen with a summer 2012 release-would upset a lot of customers.

Why a Fall Debut Doesn't Make Sense
On the flip side of things, a fall debut for the iPhone 5 doesn't make sense because the launch of the new iPhone has become such a staple at Apple's WWDC event in June of each year. If Apple were to release the iPhone 5 in October, they obviously could not promote the device at WWDC in June. What's more, Apple would have to plan a separate event in September/October of each year just to present the new iPhone for that year. That could be a big hassle.
